MORE CRACKS IN THE SYSTEM

 

I’m sure you noticed that Bear Stearns was sold for $2 per share or $236 million on Monday after having a market value of $3.5 billion on Friday and a value of about $20 billion back in January. Just how could a company lose so much value so quickly? We are seeing just how large the cracks in the financial system really are. Bear Stearns and Carlyle Capital are just to the first to go.

 

To make this deal with Bear Stearns work, the Federal Reserve is taking the unprecedented step of providing as much as $30 billion in financing for Bear Stearns’ less liquid assets, such as mortgage securities that they’ve been unable to sell. It’s believed that this is the largest Fed advance on record to a single company. However, if these “assets” decline in value further, the Fed will be on the hook, and not J.P. Morgan Chase, which officially bought Bear Stearns.

 

The Fed also announced Monday that it will now offer loans to securities dealers, on similar terms that are provided to banks. This is also unprecedented and it shows you just how serious these cracks in the system are. Last week the Fed offered to lend $200 billion of Treasury bonds in exchange for nearly worthless mortgage backed assets. That’s a total of $230 billion that the Fed could be holding at some point that will be worthless. What do you think that’s going to do to your US dollar?

 

Notice that the steps the Fed is taking are getting more and more unusual, more and more out on a limb. You can be certain that those guys are “quaking in their boots” or they wouldn’t even consider putting $230 billion at risk. The news is worse every day and there’s no end in sight. The Fed is very clearly aware that if any one of these financial institutions fail, the game is over. What game is that? The one that lets us leverage our country and world into so much debt that it’s unsustainable.

 

What’s important to understand is that it’s very unlikely the Fed can stop this failure. Eventually the derivatives that are attached to the sub-prime mortgages will start failing and that will really be too much to contain. And before that fails, we may see some other investment companies that are at the end of their rope fail too.

 

On top of all this, the US dollar appears to be in free fall, having yet another horrific day. Even the Plunge Protection Team can’t reverse this. The US dollar dropped to $1.59+ for one Euro in ONE DAY.

OUR SPRING EQUINOX

 

In astrological circles, the spring equinox chart is often considered to be the one that sets the tone for the year.  This spring equinox on March 20^th at 1:49 AM Eastern time (10:49 PM Pacific time on the 19^th) has plenty of intense challenges as the new game gets started (Mars opposite Pluto in the 7^th and 1^st houses respectively). As I’ve mentioned before, it looks like the new game will be to develop a sustainable economy that can heal and support the Earth and ourselves. But this can’t happen until we remodel the system we have.

 

In the financial arenas, it looks like things are continuing to dissolve (Admetos in the 5^th house exactly square Neptune in the 2^nd house). On the other hand, our leaders look like they are on the war path trying to distract us from watching the financial chaos. Should anything like this get started, remember to keep your eye on the ball. Ignore everything else.

 

The leaders in this chart look appear likely to either misuse their power OR to have some traumatic and challenging event occur to them. Pay attention to what’s happening with our leaders. They are definitely challenged!

 

The good news is we still have some growth potential, but it gets a bit short-changed by some unexpected events. Even so, the growth helps us get through this period. So thank heavens for that!

 

The Spring Equinox is a good time to set intentions for what you most want to create for the year. This year I recommend you set intentions around leaving behind anything that isn’t serving you for your highest good. This can be possessions, ideas, beliefs, clutter, behavior patterns, self-care sabotage, and even relationships that aren’t working. Then set a second intention that you transform to your most authentic self for your own highest good and the highest good of all. Then follow the path wherever it leads you. This isn’t easy to do, but it’s time to do this. Our economic system is just a reflection of us. If it’s going to transform to something sustainable and valuable, then we must transform too.
